HATOCH pH7 Stick Sicherheitsdatenblatt Werte

Is deep primer remover dangerous? The safety data sheet explained simply

In a nutshell: The HATOCH pH7 Stick is not classified as a hazardous substance (no H-phrases), has a pH value of 7, a flash point of 65°C, and is inherently biodegradable. The SPECIAL 500ml variant has a different composition – citric acid-based, pH 2 to 4 – and its own safety data sheet. Here are the most important values of the pH7 Stick explained in layman's terms.

pH Value 7 (pH7 Stick)

A pH value of 7 means neutral – neither acidic nor alkaline. This is the main difference from acetone, isopropanol, or vinegar cleaners, which, depending on the product, are strongly acidic, alkaline, or solvent-based and can therefore attack materials. The SPECIAL variant, on the other hand, works with citric acid at a pH of 2 to 4 – also gentle on materials when used correctly, but with a different mode of action.

WGK 1 (Water Hazard Class)

WGK 1 stands for "slightly hazardous to water" – the lowest classification in Germany. When used correctly, the product poses only a low risk to water bodies.

Flash Point 65°C

The flash point indicates the temperature at which vapors can ignite. 65°C is well above room temperature and makes the product uncritical in everyday use – in contrast to acetone (flash point approx. -20°C) or isopropanol (approx. 12°C), which form highly flammable vapors even at room temperature. A flash point is always present; the large safety margin to room temperature is decisive.

Not Classified as a Hazardous Substance

The pH7 Stick carries no H-phrases (hazard statements) and is therefore not subject to classification according to the CLP Regulation.

Biodegradable – but with limitations

The pH7 Stick is inherently biodegradable (25% degradation in 28 days according to OECD 302B). This is not the same as "readily biodegradable" (a stricter standard) – an important distinction for correct classification.

And the SPECIAL variant?

The SPECIAL 500ml variant is based on citric acid and has a pH value of 2 to 4. It is designed to dissolve silicate and mineral deep primer, for which the pH-neutral stick is not sufficient. Details on the classification can be found in the separate safety data sheet for the SPECIAL variant.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is the HATOCH pH7 Stick a hazardous substance?

No. The product carries no H-phrases and is not subject to classification according to the CLP Regulation.

What does a flash point of 65°C mean in practice?

The product is not easily flammable at normal room temperature – unlike acetone or isopropanol, whose flash points are significantly below room temperature.

Does the SPECIAL variant have the same values as the pH7 Stick?

No. The SPECIAL variant is citric acid-based with a pH value of 2 to 4, while the pH7 Stick is pH-neutral. Both products have their own safety data sheet.
